St. Mary's Table Tennis Club has many members of all age ranges playing competitive
table tennis at varied levels.
Our most valuable assets are our young players who are the future of the club.
Their well being and care is our prime concern above all else, they will be
afforded the
same dignity and respect as all adult members of the club and have an equal
stake in all
that we do.
We must ensure that at all times our behaviour is beyond reproach and the standard
for
others to follow, at the club, at matches and tournaments.
As a safeguard to our young players and to our adult players we must follow
certain
protocols when carrying young players to and from venues in vehicles.
By doing this we do not put any of our players in what could be construed as
an
intimidating position or leave others open to accusations of wrongdoing.
Advice can be obtained from Sandra Wilkinson Child Welfare Officer.
• Approval must be given by the parent or guardian to allow their child
to be carried in vehicles by adult members of the club.
• All vehicles must comply with road traffic legislation and must be insured
to carry passengers.
• If carrying young players, ideally, they should be seated in the rear
of the vehicle.
• Where it requires one young player to be sat in the front of the vehicle
with the driver it should be a player of the same gender as the driver.
• When dropping off players at their homes or appointed place, young players
of the opposite gender to the driver should be dropped off first.
• All bags and kit will be stored safely in the luggage compartment of
the vehicle.
• Ideally all vehicles should carry a basic first aid kit.
• All occupants of the vehicle will wear seat belts in accordance with
the law.
• The driver of the vehicle will carry a telephone list of all parents
or guardians home telephone numbers (provided and updated by St. Mary's TTC)
to ensure contact can be made should the need arise.
