St Mary’s youth tt started in 1963 one of the founder members was John Hardcastle it was based at
St Mary’s church hall in South Elmsall john was youth leader at the time so he arranged for them to play
Other youth clubs in the surrounding area of which they were unbeaten this prompted the club to join
The Doncaster and district table tennis league. In 1970 john was elected to the committee and became General Secretary
And has just retired after 20yrs.the club has been premier div champions 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th div champs
Proving themselves as worthy opponents. St Mary's over the years has produced many top class players
Who have represented Doncaster town as well as playing for Yorkshire in county matches.
From 1963 a few changes have taken place we no longer play at St. Mary’s but now play at the Westfield
Social centre our official title is St Mary’s (98) Table Tennis Club. We have formed a committee
Comprising of Barry Johnson (chairman) John Wilkinson (coaching development sec) Trevor Nelson (treasurer) Simon Thomas as club Secretary as well as a full working committee including Sandra Wilkinson who is also our child welfare officer. Gregg Barker, Chis Senior, Luke Wilson.
We have a very good relationship with the social centre staff also With the South Elmsall council
We survive on fundraising, donations, and grants from organisations Dedicated to small clubs and groups helping the community.

We have 28 members 14 of which are junior / cadet age we play in the Castleford / Pontefract league plus
The Doncaster and district league we have cadet teams playing in the Yorkshire League
And national league also we have been accepted into the junior British league after the first w/end
They are third with one w/end still to play.
At the other end of the age group St. Mary’s veteran (over 40) won promotion to div 6of the veterans’ British league, this season and Are also in third spot with one w/end to go.
